Person specification
You should be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of the following criteria listed under Part One within your written application. These will be tested further at the preliminary interview stage, along with the criteria listed under Part Two:
Part one
The successful Chair will be able to give evidence of:
- An understanding of and commitment to the values of NCH.
- A record of proven and significant achievement in their own field.
- Experience of board or committee membership, including effective chairing experience in charitable, public sector or commercial organisations.
- An ability to engage positively with the Methodist Church.
- A proven track record of strategic leadership and harnessing a range of motivational skills.
- Demonstrable experience of building and sustaining relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.
Part two- An understanding of, and commitment to, the values of accountability, probity and openness.
- Sound, objective judgement and decision making.
- Confident and effective communication skills with a range of audiences, including the media.
- A sophisticated understanding of the respective roles of the Chair, Trustees and Chief Executive.
- A track record of commitment to promoting equality and diversity.
- Significant experience and awareness of the political sensitivities and the workings of Government.
